Mrs Tittlemouse from the 2018 Royal Mint Beatrix Potter Collection

Issued: 40,000

This is the final coin issues as part of the 2018 Royal Mint Beatrix Potter collection and the only UK coin to feature Mrs Tittlemouse. The stunning colour printing brings this charming character to life in a way that will be treasured by collectors young and old.

Mrs Thomasina Tittlemouse first appeared in The Tale of The Flopsy Bunnies but Potter decided to give her a tale of her own, and in 1910, ‘The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse was published.

Mrs Tittlemouse is a wood mouse, and lives in a funny house of long passages and storerooms beneath a hedge. The little tale follows this little character’s efforts at keeping her home clean and tidy whilst a host of wanted, and unwanted guests, continue to create messes that she fears she will never clean up. After a good night’s sleep and a fortnight of spring cleaning, Mrs Telehouse’s house is clean once more and she holds a party for her friends.

Each of the Beatrix Potter collectable 50p coins are supplied in a protective acrylic case. This clever design makes them very easy to handle and view whilst keeping them in mint condition. Collect each design and grow a Beatrix Potter coin collection to be proud of and to invest in.

Beatrix Potter

Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English writer, natural scientist and conservationist. She was best known for her collection of 23 children’s books featuring now iconic characters including Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddle Duck and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.

Childhood holidays in Scotland and the Lake District amongst the landscape, fauna and flora and numerous pets inspired the stories the children have loved for decades – the first of which was the self-published The Tales of Peter Rabbit.

Throughout her life, Beatrix Potter used the proceeds from her books to acquire numerous farms throughout the Lancashire to preserve the unique hill country landscape. Upon her death in 1943 aged 77, Potter left almost all her property to the National Trust and is credited with preserving much of the land which now makes up the Lake District National Park.

Beatrix Potter’s books continue to be popular world-wide and have been published in many languages. Her life has been the focus of many films and television series, and her stories continue to be retold through film, song, animation and ballet.

Beatrix Potter’s stories are beloved amongst generations and have stood the test of time which is why this second collection of Beatrix Potter commemorative coins has become a must-have amongst collectors and admirers of the original 2016 series.
