The Royal Mint was also awarded the contract to manufacture the Victory Medals that would be used for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.The range covers a mixture of denominations, collectable coins struck in both gold and silver including the four-year Countdown series and the popular London 2012 Olympic 50p coins list.

Collectable Olympic coin designs started appearing on 50p coins from 2009 and continued through 2010, and 2011, to 2012 itself.
