The Peter Rabbit 50p Coin | Beatrix Potter Series

Enhanced by colour printing that brings one of Beatrix Potter’s most well-known characters to life.

The Peter Rabbit 50p coin is endorsed by publisher Frederick Warne & Co (a Penguin Random House company) and features the iconic scene from Beatrix Potter’s first book of Peter Rabbit running away to find more mischief.   Following the success of the 2016 Beatrix Potter Fifty Pence Series which celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter, The Royal Mint continues the series with a new coin being released each year.

Beatrix Potter

Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English writer, natural scientist and conservationist. She was best known for her collection of 23 children’s books featuring now iconic characters including Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddle Duck and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.

Childhood holidays in Scotland and the Lake District amongst the landscape, fauna and flora and numerous pets inspired the stories the children have loved for decades – the first of which was the self-published The Tales of Peter Rabbit.
