The Royal Mint commemorated the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew with a now iconic 50p coin showing the now iconic pagoda design by artist Christopher Le Brun RA. 

Kew Gardens is famous worldwide for its park in Richmond, London. Over 2.5 million tourists from across the world visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site every year to see the unmistakable Glass House, wonder at some of the garden's collection of over 30,000 living plants and explore the 300-acre site which celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2009.
