The 2002 Gold Proof Sovereign was issued by The Royal Mint to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee.

Interestingly, the 2002 Golden Jubilee Sovereign was released with a new revived shield design. A design not seen since back when Queen Victoria celebrated her own Jubilee.


The coin's obverse was designed by British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadly and the design on the reverse was by Timothy Noad.
